Privacy Policy

Iqraa helps you read the Qur’an with a reading circle. To do that it keeps an account for you and a record of your reading. We don’t show ads, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
This policy covers the Iqraa apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, CarPlay, Android, Android TV and Android Auto, the web app at iqraaquran.app/app, and this website.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name and email address, and an account ID. They come from the sign-in you choose, such as Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only see the relay address.
- Your reading. The circles you create or join, your daily wird settings, which pages or verses you have read and when, streaks, bookmarks, and any notes you write. Other members of a circle can see your name and your progress in that circle.
- Settings that make reminders work. Your time zone, and a push notification token for your device if you allow notifications.
- Purchases. If you subscribe, Apple or Google tell us which product you bought and whether it is active. Payment details stay with Apple or Google; we never see your card.
- Usage and diagnostics. Which features are used (for example “opened the reader” or “joined a circle”), with a device identifier, plus crash reports when the app fails. We use this to find bugs and decide what to improve.
We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, or anything from your microphone or camera.
How we use it
- To run the app: keep your circles and progress in sync across your devices, send the reminders you ask for, and unlock what you have paid for.
- To keep it working: fix crashes and understand which parts people actually use.
- To answer you when you write to us.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of services to run Iqraa. They handle data on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in.
- Render: hosts our server.
- Google Firebase: usage analytics, crash reports, and push notifications to Android devices.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, in-app purchases, and delivering notifications to their devices.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and the web app.
The Qur’an text and recitation audio come from public Qur’an services. Your device requests them directly, so those services see an ordinary web request (your IP address), but nothing about your account.
Our YouTube channel and YouTube API Services
We publish Iqraa’s own videos to our YouTube channel with a small internal tool, Iqraa Publisher, which uses the YouTube API Services. It is used only by us, only with our own channel, and never with your Google or YouTube account. The Iqraa apps do not use the YouTube API Services, and nothing in this section concerns your Iqraa account.
- What it accesses. Our channel’s ID and name, the videos we upload, and our playlists, through Google sign-in (OAuth) with permission to upload and manage videos on that channel.
- What it stores. One sign-in token for our channel, kept on our server (Supabase), plus the IDs of the videos it uploaded. It does not read, collect or store any data about viewers or other YouTube users.
- Sharing. None of this is shared with anyone.
- Revoking and deleting. Access can be withdrawn at any time from the Google account’s security settings at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. When it is, or on request to the address below, we delete the stored token within 7 days.
Watching our videos on YouTube is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and reading history for as long as you have an account. Detailed usage events are deleted after 90 days; after that only totals remain, which aren’t linked to you. Crash reports are kept by Firebase according to its own retention.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, your progress, your bookmarks and your notes, and takes you out of your circles. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Children
Iqraa isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR. Write to us and we will reply within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we will also say so in the app.
